September Festivals in Philadelphia!

Philadelphia has So Many Fun (and FREE!) Festivals Happening this Month!

Philadelphia and festivals go hand in hand!  We've listed some of the festivals happening in September in the Downtown Philly area below!  Best part is, they are all FREE to attend (attendance is free, but food/drinks/etc. may be pay as you go, depending on the event).  Full event details can be found on our event calendar or at the links provided.

Note:  Many festivals are outdoors and may be cancelled or rescheduled if there is inclement weather.  Please check with the venue before heading to the event.

Disability Pride Festival & Parade:  September 7th, 11:00 - 4:00

Join people with disabilities, allies, aides, family and friends along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway for the 12th annual Disability Pride Philadelphia Festival & Parade. The daylong party kicks off at City Hall with a parade up the Parkway beginning at 11 a.m., followed by the four-hour festival between 16th and 18th streets with food trucks, games, arts and craft vendors, special guests, giveaways, community and resource organizations, sensory-friendly spaces, and live music every hour on the hour from Ryan Gilfillian, Gooch & the Motion and Black Cat Habitat.

La Feria de Barrio Festival:  September 8th, 12:00 - 4:30

The annual La Feria del Barrio is one of the biggest Latino arts and culture festivals in the Greater Philadelphia area. This is it's 40th year!  This festival celebrates Philly's Latino community through live music and dance, arts and crafts vendors, community resources and family-friendly activities.

Brazilian Day Festival:  September 8th, 1:00 - 7:00

Part of the PECO Multicultural Series, Brazilian Day will take place at Spruce Street Harbor Park.  This festival shares Brazilian arts and culture and features music, dance and Brazilian performances.

The Navy Yard Night Festival:  September 12th, 4:00 - 8:00

Head to the Navy Yard with the family for the Navy Yard Night Festival.  Enjoy food trucks, live music, yard games, and much more!

Philly Fall Nature Festival @ John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge: September 14th, 10:00 - 3:00

Head to the Wildlife Refuge to celebrate fall with archery, fishing, birding, guided walks, nature crafts, food and music!  There will be live animals too! https://www.fws.gov/event/philly-fall-nature-fest

Fall for the Arts Festival: September 15th, 11:00 - 5:00

The 40th Annual Fall for the Arts Festival in Chestnut Hill returns on September 15th!  This family-friendly event features live demonstrations, children's activities, music, food and shopping!

Mexican Independence Day Festival:  September 15th, 2:00 - 8:00

West Park Harvest:  September 20th, 6:00 - 10:30 & September 21st, 11:00 - 3:00

Join Fairmount Park Conservancy for a fun weekend at Welsh Fountain in West Fairmount Park!  This fall themed festival will include a hay maze, family-friendly activities, and a movie night on Friday.  The fun continues on Saturday with pumpkin decorating, Let's Rock Recess, face painting and more!

29th Annual Mid-Autumn Festival:  September 21st, 12:00 - 7:30

Asian Americans United will be hosting its 29th Mid-Autumn Festival on Saturday, September 21st, 2024.  Bring your friends and family!  Enjoy lively performances, captivating lion dances, an exciting mooncake eating contest, pay-as-you-play Carnival games, free art activities, and then culminate the festivities with a lantern parade through Chinatown!

16th Annual South Street Octoberfest:  September 21st, 12:00 - 8:00

This festival is an all day street fest with music, German dancers, competitions, games, face painting, and delicious food and drinks!  It is family friendly and all ages are welcome to attend!

8th Annual South Philly Sausage Fest:  September 21st, 12:00 - 7:00

Head down to Broad Street and West Passyunk Ave for an afternoon of great food, live music, craft artists and flea marketers.  This event is kid friendly and dog-on-leash friendly.

We are the Seeds Festival:  September 21st & September 22nd, 12:00 - 9:00

The two-day We Are The Seeds Philly Festival celebrates Indigenous arts and culture through music, dance, storytelling, live interactive art painting, a fine art show, panel discussions and film screenings, plus Indigenous eats, apparel, craft vendors and more. Held at Cherry Street Pier, the event is curated by Native-led resident artists We Are the Seeds of CultureTrust.

Delaware River Festival:  September 28th, 10:00 - 4:00

The Delaware River Festival is a free festival held at Penn's Landing, Philadelphia and Wiggins Park, Camden, NJ.  Activities include RiverLink Ferry Rides between Philadelphia and Camden, Independence Seaport Museum entry, pedal boat rides, face painting, games, crafts, prizes and more!  Everything is free!

Fishtown Fall Feastivale:  September 28th, 12:00 - 8:00

Fishtown Feastivale takes over Frankford Ave in Fishtown on September 28th, 2024!  Now in it's third year, this outdoor end-of-summer food festival & celebration features local foods including burgers, brisket and Bavarian pretzels, paired with Fishtown favorite cocktails, and over 50 local art and retail vendors. A local dunk tank setup and carnival games ensures a swimmingly good time as local DJs encourage visitors to dance the night away.

Puerto Rican Day Parade:  September 29th, 12:00 - 6:00

Every year people line up on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway for the Puerto Rican Day Parade, which features marching bands, floats, motorcades, and dance performances.  There will be booths set up along the route with vendors, craft sellers, and food!
