Spirit of Philadelphia

By Amy Battaglia September 5, 2017

We recently took a trip on the Spirit of Philadelphia located at Penn's Landing. It’s an awesome two-hour boat ride touring the Delaware River. Spirit Cruises offers brunch, lunch or dinner cruises year-round! It’s a terrific way to extend that summer feeling!

Before entering the ship, you can have your family/group picture taken by professional photographers. You will have the opportunity to view and purchase the pictures at the end of the trip. The packages run about $30, comes printed out and displayed in a Spirit of Philadelphia logo frame. Cash, credit charge/debit card is accepted for payment.

As you enter the boat you are greeted by friendly and welcoming staff. There are two floors of seating and everyone is seated at their own private table! Each and every table has a breathtaking view!! There’s a grand food buffet with different choices of entrees, sides, salads and desserts. Our server was kind and courteous. He brought us our drinks which include unlimited: coffee, hot tea, iced tea and water. They also offer juice which came in a plastic kid’s cup with a straw for my 4 year old. For an additional charge you can order cocktails from the bar, they offer an extensive drink menu. Although we didn’t order any fun cocktails we did notice them at other tables as the servers brought them out in fun fancy glasses!

While cruising and enjoying lunch you get a quick lesson on the Delaware River and all of the attractions as you pass by. You learn about different landmarks such as: Ben Franklin Bridge, Old Swede’s Church, Flag Ship Olympia, Penn’s Landing, Adventure Aquarium, Navy Yard, Red Bank Battlefield, USS Becuna, Christ Church, Sports Complex, Shot Tower and The Walt Whitman Bridge. Being a Philly native, I even learned a thing or two. It was really interesting!!

Soon the dancing starts and everyone was out out on the dance floor! The DJ was playing all the latest dance songs. Inside they also have giant sized connect 4 games for the kids. On the ship’s decks, you are able to walk around and snap some amazing pics, play foosball, little ones can build with wooden blocks or you can just sit relax and enjoy the ride on couches or high top tables and enjoy a beverage.

We ended the cruise dancing! As you exit the cruise the staff hands you chocolate chip cookies, I can’t think of a better way to spend the afternoon!! Thank you to Spirit Cruises for hosting us, we had a fabulous time and can’t wait to sail with you again! You can learn more and book your own Spirit Cruise here.
